Providing homes for the hedgehogs can be a small step in encouraging biodiversity in our gardens. But can they really offset your log burner’s carbon emissions?

What a day. On 5th June , I had the absolute pleasure of attending B Corp Fest , a unique event that combined the energy of a festival with the substance of a conference. Hosted at the brilliant B Corp certified venue, The Wellbeing Farm , it was a day full of inspiration, learning and connection.
From the moment I arrived, I could feel the buzz. There was a genuine sense of warmth and welcome, with music, colour and friendly faces creating a vibrant atmosphere. At the heart of it all were thoughtful conversations about sustainability, business as a force for good, and the future of work.
I spent the entire day talking, listening and learning. It was a real pleasure to engage with people who care deeply about creating positive change through their businesses.
One of the standout moments of the day was hearing Patrick Grant speak about his work with Community Clothing. His talk was a compelling reminder of how fashion and manufacturing can support local economies and build stronger, more resilient communities.
He spoke passionately about local sourcing , the value of creating meaningful jobs, and how businesses can act with integrity and purpose. His message aligned beautifully with the spirit of the event and offered a practical example of sustainability in action.
It was wonderful to reconnect with some fantastic people, including Mich Bondesio FRSA, Sophie Addison, Ben Beetham and Ian Steel. These conversations reminded me why I do what I do.
I also had the chance to meet some inspiring new connections who are passionate about using business to create lasting impact.
A real highlight of the day was co-delivering a workshop with Richard Dickson , where we explored how sustainability is not just good for the planet but good for business too. The discussion was lively and engaging, and it was great to see how many people were genuinely interested in applying these ideas in their own organisations.
I went to B Corp Fest hoping to learn and to contribute, and I left feeling like I had done both. I was able to support other businesses, gain fresh insights and take home a very thoughtful goody bag filled with sustainable treats.
Thank you to Celia Gaze, MBA , and the team at The Wellbeing Farm (www. thewellbeingfarm.co.uk ) for creating such a welcoming and inspiring space. It was a brilliant setting for the kind of conversations that help drive meaningful change.
Thank you again to Richard Dickson ( https://playitgreen.com/ ) for being a thoughtful and generous workshop partner.
And thank you to Mark Herrington ( https://www.markherringtonvideography.co.uk/ ) for the photos, particularly the one that I have terribly cropped to make just of me and Patrick Grant.
